Northern Redneck
Once upon a time, a long, long time ago, back when you had to yell out the window to Muthah who was up on the roof adjusting the antenna th "put it back where it was", and there were only 3 channels on TV - all going off the air at midnight, well, it was a simpler time. No distractions.This was the environment that Bucky Lewis grew up in. As a teenager he did 2 things alot. The other one was that he practiced and practiced for hours every day to perfect his craft of playing and singing with his guitar.
In the late 70s and 80s, when it was party city throughout the country, Bucky learned how to survive from the stage in smoky bars throughout New England. Happy hours on Cape Cod, learning how to manpulate a crowd from his mentor John Morgan at Pufferbellies in Hyannis, and the North Country Fare in the winters at Mt. Snow VT.
When the drinking laws changed and the happy hours were banished for good in Massachusetts, other happy hour entertainers
started using electronic drum machines and sequencers to make their shows more powerful.
Bucky Lewis has a brain that doesn't allow him to complete a song, much less be tied to a machine. He started putting what he knew into the show. Characters he had met growing up in LA (Laconia) he started developing into hilarious routines.. Having a quick wit honed from years on the Happy Hour circuit served him well as he went into the world of comedy.
"I like to say that the Southern Redneck and the Northern Redneck is basically the same - we both don't like to get out of the shower to pee - but us stumpkickers from the North have a drier sense of humor because we have to deal with wetter weather". -- Bucky
So over the course of this next year, this website will evolve into all things having to do with northern rednecks. After all, no offense to the southern boys, but us northern folks can fish too. It's just that we don't have as many egocentric, self-centered fishin' TV shows as you do.
Darwin was a closet redneck. You know he wasn't the first person to observe that corn on the cob, for as much as it is chewed, has a remarkable ability to remain whole. Using the constant of stool samples in apes and humans, he then noted that evolution happened because apes would not get out of the shower to pee, let alone be in the shower in the first place!
So the journey continues. Common sense plays a key role in the redneck's life. How many chain saws do you have to break before you discover that big pine tree you've been trying to cut down on top of the hill overlooking your property is really a cell tower disguised as a conifer?
You'd have to be a real dubbah to try it more than twice. You'd also have to get a new set of friends if the one that was helping you asked you "what's that sound?" when you started up the saw.
Remember, being a northern redneck is all about adapting, especially here in NH, the fastest growing population in New England. Every day it seems you get a curve ball thrown at you, or maybe even a knuckler. But you learn and move forward. No choice. Yes it's getting crowded, and the outhouse is on the National Register of Historic Places, but other than the Old Man leaving in May because of the black flies, our great land is still here to be shared and appreciated. So if you come here to live, we welcome you. Maybe you'll start to catch some of that common sense that we are known for. Just don't post your land!
